Care briefings for Georgia

The screen visit and the real assessment

The online option fits your day. Before committing, find out how the clinician plans to judge whether this format fits the concern you want assessed.

The screen changes the setting

For an online visit, find a place where you can speak freely. Keep your questions and medicine list nearby. Ask how to reconnect if the call drops.

Georgia’s rule, checked on September 28, 2026, holds online visits to the same level of care as visits in person.

The clinician must still order tests needed to work out what is wrong with the patient.

Ask how the assessment will work

  • Who reviews the information I send?
  • How can I ask the clinician about an answer that is unclear?
  • What would make a visit in person necessary?
  • Who arranges any tests, and who explains the results?
  • What happens to my fee if this is not a suitable route?

Leave with a way back to the clinician

Under Georgia’s rule checked September 28, 2026, online patients must receive the treating clinician’s name, qualifications and emergency contact details.

The clinician must explain how to get urgent help for a problem related to treatment. They must also make a serious effort to arrange an exam in person at least once a year.

That is a duty to try to arrange the yearly exam, rather than a promise that it will happen. Ask who will arrange yours.

Ask for those details in writing so you can keep them. A chat window is easier to forget than a written plan.
